C.A. 99744-12-11 Y.Z. et al. v. Hadassah Hospital at the District Court of Jerusalem

Ms. Y.Z., a young woman in her late 30s, arrived at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem after suffering an epileptic seizure. When she arrived at the emergency room, a preliminary diagnosis was made and an order was given to perform an MRI scan.
Despite this order being repeated several more times in the days that followed, and despite the deterioration in Ms. Y.Z.'s condition – the required test was not performed until 6 days had passed. Even when it was finally performed, the medical staff ignored its findings and did not address them, and as a result, the correct diagnosis of the plaintiff was delayed – namely, that she was suffering from an autoimmune disease that could be treated by administering steroids. Indeed, once the steroids were finally administered, the deterioration in the patient's condition was halted, but she was left with severe neurological damage, permanently. An additional damage caused to the plaintiff during her hospitalization was a blood clot in the leg due to the fact that she did not receive blood thinning medications, which must be given to patients bedridden for extended periods precisely to prevent such damage.
The District Court in Jerusalem accepted all our claims in the matter and rejected the claims of Hadassah's doctors and medical experts on its behalf, and ordered Hadassah to pay our client a sum of approximately 5 million shekels!
